Learn the math, create some art, express yourself with a poem or just bake a delicious circular treat to share. Celebrate Pi Day with us on Monday, March 14th!

Grades K/1

Objective: Celebrate the circle!

• Sing: Sesame Street "Circle Song" & Storybots "Circle Song" 
• Create: A circle is just a circle until you add.. (printable PDF) (example)
• Read: The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds (video read-aloud)
• Bake: Doubletree's not-so-secret-anymore Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie

Grades 2/3

Objectives: (1) Learn about the diameter and circumference of a circle. (2) Discover the relationship between the diameter and circumference without fractions.

• Learn: Math Antics "Circles, What is Pi?"
• Sing: The Circle Song, a rap about circles and Pi by Jam Campus
• Discover: Cutting Pi* - discover the relationship between the diameter and circumference of a circle with a pair of scissors, yarn and circular objects of varying sizes.
• Express: Write an original π-ku* (a haiku about Pi; example)
• Read: Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi by Cindy Neuschwander (video read-aloud)
• Serve: IKEA's pandemic-revealed Swedish Meatballs

Grades 4/5

Objectives: (1) Learn about the diameter and circumference of a circle. (2) Discover the relationship between the diameter and circumference with or without fractions.
