Objective: Celebrate the circle!
- Sing: Sesame Street "Circle Song" & Storybots "Circle Song"
- Create: A circle is just a circle until you add.. (printable PDF) (example)
- Read: The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds (video read-aloud)
- Bake: Doubletree's not-so-secret-anymore Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie
Grades 2/3
Objectives: (1) Learn about the diameter and circumference of a circle. (2) Discover the relationship between the diameter and circumference without fractions.
- Learn: Math Antics "Circles, What is Pi?"
- Sing: The Circle Song, a rap about circles and Pi by Jam Campus
- Discover: Cutting Pi* - discover the relationship between the diameter and circumference of a circle with a pair of scissors, yarn and circular objects of varying sizes.
- Express: Write an original π-ku* (a haiku about Pi; example)
- Read: Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi by Cindy Neuschwander (video read-aloud)
- Serve: IKEA's pandemic-revealed Swedish Meatballs
Grades 4/5
