The Peter Kirk PTSA is excited to provide engaging after school activities located right at Kirk as soon as the school day ends! We partner with local organizations as well as Peter Kirk parents to offer opportunities for students to explore various arts, languages, STEM, sports, and more through these programs. Introduction to Robotics : Children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design. Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time.  

 

Academic Enrichment:

- Explore robotics and become introduced to computer programming.

- Pseudo-coding, sensor input, mechanics.

- Practice critical thinking skills through challenges.

- Problem solving and inventiveness are encouraged through play.

Creature Creators Robotics: In Snapology’s Creature Creator Robotics class, your animal lover will create their own animal inspired robotic models. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines, and programming as they build insects, dolphins, gorillas, and much more. Your child is sure to have a wild time as they build, learn, and play.

 

Academic Enrichment:

· Investigate topics in zoology including animal structure and habitats 

· Learn about pseudo coding, sensor inputs, and robotics 

· Learn about mechanics through pulleys, gears, and cranks 

· Use engineering skills to solve challenges

CreArt Palette to Plaster: Sketching Adventures to 3D Sculptures: Join us for a creative winter filled with fun projects like zentangle animals, clay pizza slices, disco balls, and foil sculptures! From colorful maps with 2D/3D landmarks to oil pastel snow scenes and pointillism landscapes, every class is packed with exciting art exploration. Get ready to make magic this winter!

Lil Ballers Basketball Program: Students will have a blast learning the fundamentals of basketball, sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy habits while practicing skills and having fun. Sessions are designed for students to explore the game in a fun and nurturing environment.

Exciting games such as “Fry the bacon” and sharks and minnows”are enjoyed. Baskets can be lowered so everyone can get in on the fun!

Japanese: Learn Japanese through food, song, games, art, and lots of repetition! Konnichiwa! Hello, I am Ayumi. After graduating from the Faculty of Education at Wakayama University Japan, I worked as a teacher at a public elementary school. (I have a Japanese teaching license for elementary, junior high, and high school). As a lifelong learner, I have a diploma of tea ceremony and enjoy wearing Kimono. I am very happy to promote Japanese culture and language to children. As a mother of three, born and raised in Japan, I came to the U.S. 5 years ago with my family, and I am also a Peter Kirk PTSA member with one kid currently at PK.

Karate-X Martial Arts: Join Karate-X for awesome classes that are disciplined, challenging and fun!  Students will learn and practice Karate skills with punching bags, breaking boards, blocking drills, kicking targets and more!  Karate-X has been teaching in the Puget Sound for over 25 years, with a Martial Arts program specifically designed for preschool and elementary students.  Our professional instructors know how to motivate kids while building self-confidence and discipline. Belt rank testing is held at the end of each session, giving students goals to aim for and recognition of their accomplishments.

Steamoji’s Build to Solve™ Intro Program : With Steamoji’s  Build to Solve™ Intro program, students are exposed to foundational subjects in fabrication, physical computing, engineering and digital arts using latest technologies and hands-on projects that involves 3D Pen Design, Laser Cutting & 3D Printing. Kickstart your child's confidence as they iterate and improve their designs and can take home their final invention.

Kids Yoga: These classes encourage a deeper sense of body awarenes and self exploration. As your young yogi no begins to grow in his or her practice, these classes offer more flowing sequences, balancing poses, breathing exercises and relaxation as well as interactive yoga games and partner work.
