The Peter Kirk PTSA is excited to provide engaging after school activities located right at Kirk as soon as the school day ends! We partner with local organizations as well as Peter Kirk parents to offer opportunities for students to explore various arts, languages, STEM, sports, and more through these programs. If you have questions about the after school programs or are interested in running a parent-led class, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Kirk PTSA enrichment chairs: afterschool@PeterKirkPTSA.org.

Anna’s Art Lab: Grades K-5

Let young artists celebrate the magic of spring in this joyful mixed media art workshop for elementary students!

Students will explore the bright, fresh colors of the season while experimenting with a variety of materials and techniques. From sculpting with clay and painting vibrant spring scenes to creating textured collages and imaginative crafts, children will discover new ways to express their creativity.

Along the way, students will also learn about and explore artists who were inspired by spring themes in their work, discovering how different artists expressed the beauty of the season through color, texture, and style.

This hands-on workshop encourages artistic freedom, builds confidence, and inspires young creators to see spring through color, texture, and imagination.

Chess: Grades K-5

Be excited for engaging lessons, tournament rounds, awards and prizes, and more! Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned tournament player, join us. Bring your desire to learn and have fun!

Ball Hockey: Grades K-5

No ice. No skating. Ball hockey is similar to ice hockey, but players wear tennis shoes and play on a hard surface using a ball instead of a puck. It is a super-fun, fast-paced, team-oriented sport that emphasizes strategy, speed, and agility. Your student will have a blast!

No experience required! In fact, almost all the kids that start playing ball hockey with us have never played before. Through exciting games & challenges and friendly scrimmages, players develop confidence, coordination, and teamwork skills. Our experienced coaches will guide them every step of the way, starting with basic hockey fundamentals like stickhandling, passing, shooting, and positioning. We will make sure they learn the game of hockey the right way, in a supportive and fun environment.

Every student goes home with our McVander Hockey t-shirt and wristband.

Young Japanese Scholars: Grades 1-5
Our Japanese Culture and Language Club provide an engaging, hands-on environment where children explore the Japanese language alongside traditional culture, seasonal events, crafts, food experiences, songs, and storytelling. Rather than memorization alone, students learn through real-life context, play-based activities, and interactive communication. At Iroha Sha, we nurture not only language skills but also curiosity, cultural awareness, and confidence. Our goal is to create a warm, supportive and fun space where children feel excited to learn and proud of their progress.

Total Control Soccer: Grades 3-5

Join Coach Ryan for a fun, active after school soccer class designed to help kids become better soccer players as well as better people. Each session combines ball skill development, agility, and small sided games to keep kids engaged and constantly improving!

Snapology: Grades K-5

Snapology Scientists: Build, Discover, and Explore! Is your child full of questions and curiosity? In Snapology Scientists, kids dive into hands-on science using LEGO® bricks and interactive tools to explore everything from atoms to astronomy. It’s the perfect way to spark a lifelong love of learning—through play, creativity, and teamwork.

What Kids Learn:

  • Science Concepts Made Fun - Explore biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and astronomy through creative builds and experiments.
  • Presentation Confidence - Share creations with classmates in a fun, low-pressure setting that builds public speaking skills and self-assurance.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration - Work in pairs and small groups to plan, build, and problem-solve together—learning respect, communication, and cooperation.

Architecture: Grades 2-5

In this creative, hands-on architecture class, students will design a “Twittering Garden”—a bird-friendly habitat that blends nature, architecture, and playful human spaces. Students will design a bird café with feeders, bird towers, baths, and islands where birds can tweet, nest, and thrive. They will also design playful spaces for children, inviting activities like hide-and-seek and drawing in the sand. Students will create a bird theatre set within waterscapes, where people can watch and listen to birds. Through model-making, drawing, and storytelling, students develop creativity, spatial thinking, and empathy as they learn to design for both humans and animals.

B&B Multi-Sport: Grades 1-3

B&B Training Solutions Multi-Sport program is the perfect way for kid  to stay active, build confidence, and have fun after school! Designed for all children. They will rotate through a variety of sports. Each session focuses on developing fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a positive, encouraging environment. With experienced coaches, engaging activities, and a safe setting, our program keeps kids moving, learning, and loving every minute of after-school play!

Spanish: Grades K-5

Our program offers an engaging, immersive experience designed for both new and returning students. Each session introduces brand new concepts and weekly themes, ensuring the curriculum is never repetitive. A brief review is included to support returning learners while helping new students feel confident and included!

CreArt: Grades K-5

Young artists will explore how colors mix, contrast, and express emotion through hands-on creations inspired by artists like Basquiat and Chagall, imaginative shadow rooms, graphic album covers, kite making, and Van Gogh–inspired printmaking. Using pastels, watercolor, clay, printmaking, collage, weaving and mixed media, students will build confidence while discovering how color transforms art and ideas.
