School’s out for summer!

Thank you to all the Peter Kirk families, staff and students who made this year one to remember! We are so grateful for all our volunteers who brought our community amazing events and programs such as Lego Scavenger Hunt, the Fun Run, school assemblies, DEI Books, Candy Buy Back, Walk to School, S.N.A.C.K. and Carnival to name just a few.  We hope everyone has an amazing summer! To the 5th graders, Congratulations and good luck in middle school!  And, to the rest of the PK students, we look forward to seeing you all back in the fall!

Outdoor Classroom

The long-awaited Outdoor Classroom is finally under construction. It is the last of 6 Community Sponsored Projects that PTSA fundraised for through the Green Gala Auctions in 2018 and 2019 to benefit the new school building. PTSA has funded and completed: The Gaga Pit, Additional Playground Equipment, Traversing Wall, Garden Beds, and Outdoor Benches. Covid put a 2 year hold on this special project, but we got good news from LWSD in early May that a contractor had been identified, and they were ready to build. PTSA members voted on the final cost and design at our recent Membership Meeting, and construction began last week. The 2-tier poured concrete amphitheater with seating for 2 classrooms is expected to be completed this summer. We look forward to Peter Kirk, and the Kirkland community to use it this Fall, and for many years to come!

PTSA School of Excellence

Thank you for taking time to complete the survey for the National PTA School of Excellence. We have submitted the application and look forward to hearing the status by the end August. We put together all of the responses, and created a final application that highlighted what we have done, and our focus for next year.
Peter Kirk Elementary School and Peter Kirk Elementary PTSA will continue to expand the goal to create a more equitable, inclusive and welcoming school community. We are encouraged and excited about the survey results showing positive outcomes directly resulting from shifts in communication and community engagement within our school. We will embrace our conversations about race and building community engagement by continuing the smaller group discussions and grade level coffee chats, producing a family cultural night in collaboration with the school, supporting the growth of the inclusive library, and creating new content for Community Education and Programs and Events like S.N.A.C.K. The standard for evaluating new content will always include the 4 “I’s” of transformative family engagement (inclusive, individualized, integrated and impactful) lens, to promote unity and increased engagement community wide, welcoming all families to Peter Kirk.

Your membership meant more than any previous year. Even with the challenges before us, we succeeded in our 100% Membership goal and continued to demonstrate that our community is here to support the programs and needs of our students.

Remember that membership is yearly so your support will be asked for again in the Fall. You can join as early as July 2nd for the 2022-23 school year.

Be sure to take advantage of the WSPTA Membership Discounts for rental cars, Silverwood, Wild Waves and others. Login using the username and password found in the welcome email to which your membership card was attached. If you need the welcome email again, let us know:

PTSA Account Transition

Beginning the week of June 19th, we will transition our system for the next school year. What does that mean for you?

1. Students will 'graduate' to the next grade and teacher assignments removed.

2. Your PTSA membership and access to the directory will expire on July 1st. Beginning July 2nd, you may purchase your 2022-23 PTSA Membership to regain directory access.

3. Beginning July 2nd, you will need to verify your family's contact information. When teacher assignments have been announced in the fall, be sure to update your child's teacher to find out who else is in your class!

Volunteering Opportunity

Looking for opportunities to volunteer with the PTSA?

We are so excited that we will be adding back some of our most loved events next year! However, we can't make it happen without YOU! We need volunteers to help plan and run these events.

The PTSA has made it easier than ever to sign up for future events where volunteers may be needed. We are encouraging parents to sign up for volunteering opportunities ahead of time so that we can reach out to you during the planning phase of each event.

To signup, visit our website, and select any events you are interested in helping with.

Thank you for volunteering!!
