Calling all junior LEGO enthusiasts!

Are you ready for an exciting LEGO adventure? Join us in the Peter Kirk neighborhoods for a thrilling LEGO scavenger hunt and show off your LEGO-building skills!

We are changing the format this year by putting out smaller LEGO kits for the scavenger hunt, which can be used to claim a second LEGO box or bag at school. Here's how you can get involved:

How to signup:

Create an account on the Peter Kirk PTSA website using an email address you would like to use to participate in this LEGO scavenger hunt. If you already have an account, you are all set!

How to participate:

  • Mark your calendars for the event dates, running from Wednesday October 4th through Sunday October 8th.
  • Each day, at 8 AM on weekdays and 9 AM on weekends, you'll receive emails from LEGOHUNT (STEM) @ Peter Kirk with clues revealing the locations of the hidden LEGO kits.

The Hunt:

  • Team up with your child and embark on a quest to find these hidden LEGO treasures.
  • We kindly ask that each student only collects one LEGO kit during the event.
  • Once your child finds a kit, challenge them to create a unique LEGO masterpiece using only the pieces from the kit. Don't worry; these kits are designed to be small but entirely buildable. Daily emails of the following day will reveal what you can create with each kit.
  • LEGO kits at each location tend to be of the same build design, we hope you have fun exploring!
  • We happily accept the empty kits for future use.

Claim Your Prize:

  • When you discover one of the LEGO kits, your student can head to the LEGO Scavenger Depot with their find. There, they can claim a specially prepared LEGO box or bag for the Brick Forward PK LEGO Scavenger Hunt.

Sharing the Joy:

  • If your child happens to find more than one LEGO kit, consider passing it on to another Peter Kirk friend. This way, more kids can enjoy crafting their LEGO creations. Each LEGO kit can be claimed for an additional LEGO box or bag at the specified times (see FAQ for LEGO Scavenger depot hours).

Show Off Your Creations:

  • Go to the LEGO Scavenger Community form https://peterkirkptsa.membershiptoolkit.com/form/m/258515 and help us share the PK creativity by submitting your answers!
  • If you don't have a PTSA account, you can still email legohunt@peterkirkptsa.org a picture of your child's LEGO creations, along with the LEGO kit's unique number found on the label. All entries will automatically be entered into a raffle for a LEGO prize at the end of the event!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  • How many LEGO kits will be hidden? Similar to previous years, we'll be hiding a substantial number of kits. 175 boxes were distributed in 2021, and 200 boxes were distributed in 2022.
  • Do I need to be a PTSA member to participate? No, this event is open to all Peter Kirk students and LWSD remote students who would otherwise attend Peter Kirk. Having an account on the PTSA website is sufficient.
  • Can my child keep the LEGO pieces? Absolutely! Plus, if you'd like to Brick Forward and contribute to other communities, we'd gladly accept any LEGO donations.
  • Why are we doing the LEGO kit and then claim method? The LEGO kit mini builds are created with the intention for kids to explore with a limited set of bricks and gives students a chance to claim the second LEGO box or bag at school. We hope by doing so, we can enable this fun event to as many students as possible and encourage students to share with classmates in the cases where one finds more than one LEGO kit.
  • How do we claim a LEGO box/bag? Once your child finds a LEGO kit or is gifted one by a classmate, you can claim a specially prepared LEGO box/bag at the LEGO Scavenger depot setup outside of the school at the following times:
    • Thursday 10/5 3:15-3:45pm
    • Saturday 10/7 9:30-10:30am, 4-5pm
    • Sunday 10/8 10:30-11:00am
    • Monday 10/9 3:15-3:45pm
    • Tuesday 10/10 3:15-3:45pm
    • If none of these times work, please email legohunt@peterkirkptsa.org to make special arrangements.
  • How many kits can my child find and build? To give as many students as possible a chance, we kindly request that each student limits themselves to one kit.
  • Where do the LEGO pieces come from? Generous members of the Kirkland community donated all the LEGO pieces.
  • Why send a picture of your child's creation? We want to celebrate your child's creativity and showcase their unique LEGO builds through a virtual gallery.
  • How do we keep track of the hidden LEGO kits? We need your help! Please let us know which LEGO kit number your child found. This number is on the kit's label. You'll be entered into a raffle for a surprise LEGO prize.
  • Can my kids add their own LEGO pieces to the build? Challenge your child to create a unique LEGO build using only the scavenged LEGO kit pieces and those in the LEGO box/bag. We believe they can do it because everything is awesome!

Still Want to Join? Even if your child doesn't find a kit, you can still participate. We'll invite the PK community to submit pictures of their LEGO creations, and all submissions will be entered into the raffle for a surprise LEGO prize at the end of the event.
