January Membership Meeting Recap

On January 22, our 3rd PTSA membership meeting of the year was held in the Peter Kirk Commons. We were joined by special guests Counselor Kristin Bauer and Principal Chris Hennings, who led an insightful presentation on supporting students through social challenges.

Counselor Bauer shared strategies for "Navigating Conflict with Confidence," helping families distinguish between rude moments, mean moments, and bullying, while introducing the "Three R’s" framework (Recognize, Refuse, and Report). Principal Hennings followed with a discussion on the school’s restorative approach to behavior, emphasizing skill-building, "impact over intent," and the use of logical consequences to teach responsibility.

During the business portion, members voted to officially endorse the 2026 LWSD Levies—the Educational Programs & Operations Levy and the Technology & Capital Projects Levy. We also elected our Nominating Committee for the upcoming year—Danielle Zimmerman, Lindsey Walimaki, and Saffiyya Rayani—and approved funding for a new bench near the Peace Poles.

November Membership Meeting Recap

On November 20, the 2nd PTSA membership meeting of the year was held via Zoom. We kicked things off with a "Look Back" video highlighting the many fun events and activities our PTSA has already accomplished this year.

During the business portion, members voted to approve budget adjustments, which included increasing support for our Green Team and STEM Docent programs and officially renaming "S.N.A.C.K." to "Multicultural Events". We also introduced a modernized, online treasury request system designed to make reimbursements easier and more efficient for our volunteers and staff.

We also shared updates on our community giving initiatives and the planting of a new maple tree on campus as an homage to the old school building. Principal Hennings joined us to discuss family engagement and shared his exciting vision for a future whole-school cultural celebration.
