At Peter Kirk Elementary PTSA, we are committed to building a school community where every student and family feels seen, welcomed, included, and empowered. Our PTSA works year round with families, staff, and community partners to ensure that diversity is celebrated, equity is pursued, and inclusion is part of our everyday experience.

Our DEI Mission

Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) work is grounded in the belief that:

  • Every student deserves to feel valued and respected
  • Differences are strengths that enrich our school community
  • Inclusion and equity support stronger learning, relationships, and belonging for all

We aim to create a space where all voices are heard and all families see themselves reflected in school activities, leadership, and programming.

Current Events

Co-Pilot Program

Our PK Co-Pilots volunteer program invites families onto campus to support students during recess. Our goal is to increase the number of caring, supportive adults on the playground to help students find solutions and have a great time at recess!

Culture Night

This special evening celebrates the many cultures represented in our school community. Families are invited to come together to enjoy a variety of activities and experiences, including:

  • Food vendors with items available for purchase

  • Snack items available from SNACK Together (Share Nibbles and Cultural Knowledge)—a returning Peter Kirk favorite event! Join us as this beloved gathering returns in person this year.

  • Crafts and games for students and families

  • Cultural fashion and displays

  • Fun activities highlighting traditions from many cultures

We hope you will join us for a night of community, learning, and celebration. More details will be shared as the event approaches.

We are currently seeking families to be cultural ambassadors for our 2026 Culture Night on April 23, 2026, 6:30-8:30pm.

Special Needs Group

Our Special Needs Group brings together families of students with IEPs, 504 plans, and other learning needs to share resources, build community, and support one another. Monthly meetings include school leaders and provide an ongoing space for connection and support.

Inclusive Recess week

Our Inclusive Recess program ensures all students can participate in playtime, fostering friendships across abilities and helping children feel confident and included.

In October, Peter Kirk students celebrated Disability Awareness Month with special recess activities that built inclusion, empathy, and connection. From teamwork games to creative challenges, our playground buzzed with laughter and learning as students discovered new strengths in themselves and their friends.

Lego Mural Project

At the start of the year, students worked together on a school wide Lego mural, symbolizing unity, creativity, and community. Every student was represented on the walls of our school in this project!

Past Events

SNACK Together

SNACK Together (Sharing Nibbles And Cultural Knowledge) is our national award winning event, where families and students learn about cultures from around the world through stories, and personal sharing of our cultural ambassadors while tasting snacks from 5 different regions of the world. This interactive virtual event builds curiosity, connection, and mutual understanding.

Peace Poles Project

Students at Peter Kirk designed six collaborative peace poles, each representing a shared value. harmony, kindness, hope, community, love, and peace. With support from PTSA members and volunteers, students used art as a way to express these values and strengthen connections across our school community.
